Happy Easter

Today was the last Easter that we will have a minor child of ours living at home with us. That same minor child spent the entire day working so I didn't get to give him his Easter basket until late tonight. So to ease my sadness some, I dug out some old pictures of the kids on Easters from long ago. I especially love this picture of the five of them in 2001. Austin still makes that same face so it is proof to me that no matter how old they get, some things never change.

Thank goodness for the positives of them growing up, like the reality that the Princess is now here due to them growing up. Her Easter pictures made my day!

We really did have a wonderful day, even though it was quiet. Hoping everyone else did too!

Christmas Lights

These are our lights for Christmas. Electric ones and luminerias from our front door. Hard to take photos of lights.

The Birds at Huntington Beach

When we visited Myrtle Beach State Park, we asked about Huntington and the lady who worked there said, "We have a fishing pier and they have alligators". While we didn't see alligators, we did see a lot of other animals including birds.

I love watching birds on the beach. They just go hand in hand to me.

When we visited the store here, I was chatting with an employee. We talked about workamping and what went along with it. She told me her two most interesting things to date were when the alligators were mating and the males went in the campground area and did not want to leave causing quite the stir and an incident involving a snake.

I almost don't want to share the snake one, because it might stick in my mind and I might not want to stay here after all.

Ok, I guess I'll share it. A young man was looking for turtle shells and he came across a water moccasin instead, landing him a nice bite from the snake. By the time he made it to her, his arm was turning black. Can't say I would want to encounter either one of those things, but I still do love interacting with animals in nature.

I am really going to miss this when we leave here!

Great weather!

With July moving right along, the mountain is seeing some of the best weather of the season right now and fantastic climbing conditions. Climbers are getting out and making the best of it. There's plenty of fun climbing to still be had all over the mountain.

Lately, a lot of climbers have been having success on the Emmons-Winthrop route (see photo). It's in great form right now and a nice option to consider when planning your trip.
Come out and see us on the mountain!

Small Tent Rocks

All over the Jemez Mountains are pointed rocks like these. Most are bigger than this. They are called tent rocks but to me they should be called teepees.

Las Trampas Cascade

Cascade, Las Trampas, originally uploaded by ParsecTraveller.

One of the multiple cascades to be found along an unnamed creek in Las Trampas. There are still colorful red leaves on the ground from fall...and spring is here!
